Eminent director Lin Zhaohua turns Nobel Laureate Gao Xingjian’s retelling of supernatural stories and myths from the 2,200-year-old The Classics of Mountains and Sea into a fantastical visual feast with music, movement and shadow puppetry drawn from Nuo Opera — a thousand-year-old art form that grew from sacrificial customs, drama and religious rites.

Given Lin’s high reputation in experimental theatre and Gao’s literary vision, Of Mountains and Seas promises to be an extraordinary experience. Commissioned by the Hong Kong Arts Festival
